Grant for Recruiting International Visiting Researchers to Sweden

A Swedish Research Council grant that provides funding to Swedish higher education institutions and approved research organisations to recruit internationally recognised researchers currently working outside Europe. The grant provides 2 million SEK for a 12-month visiting appointment and supports recruitment, salary and relocation costs. The programme is open across a broad range of academic disciplines and aims to strengthen Sweden’s research environment and international collaboration. Visits must begin between 2026-05-01 and 2027-03-01.

Eligible applicants are Swedish higher education institutions and other Swedish organisations approved by the Swedish Research Council acting as administrating organisations; applications must nominate a host department representative as project leader. The proposed visiting researcher must be internationally recognised, have been conducting research outside Europe for at least two years, have at least five years of career experience after PhD (or equivalent), and not already be established within the Swedish research system.
