ICGEB Fellowships in Pathogen Detection and Biosecurity (Africa) - September 2026

The ICGEB Fellowships in Pathogen Detection and Biosecurity (Africa) is a six-month training programme for scientists from African countries to work in ICGEB laboratories in Italy, India, or South Africa. The fellowship supports hands-on research and training in molecular detection tools, biosafety, and biosecurity related to infectious diseases, with placements in international host labs. The programme is co-funded by MAECI and includes a stipend, travel support, and health insurance for the duration of the fellowship.

Monthly stipend; travel allowances; health insurance; visa/permit costs reimbursement; access to host laboratories and supervision.

Open to nationals of African countries who are early- or mid-career scientists in human or animal health with a strong background in infectious diseases, diagnostics, or biosafety/biosecurity, affiliated with a research institute, university, or public health laboratory in their home country.
