The Marian Smoluchowski - Emil Warburg Physics Prize is awarded for outstanding contributions to pure or applied physics. It is conferred jointly by the Polish Physical Society (PTF) and the German Physical Society (DPG) in memory of Marian Smoluchowski and Emil Warburg. The prize includes a silver medal, a certificate and prize money provided by the Meyer-Viol Foundation. The award is presented alternately every two years to physicists whose centre of living and work is in Germany or Poland.

Candidates are nominated by the council of the nominating society which submits two or three names and citations to the council of the selecting/hosting society; the selecting society makes the final choice.
