Democracy as a Form of Government and Way of Life

A research grant call to provide new insight into democracy as a form of government and way of life, to explore how democratic values can be protected and developed, and to strengthen understanding of democratic processes and social development nationally and/or globally. The call is open to all academic disciplines and methodological approaches, with a preference for historical, cultural, ethical and normative perspectives in addition to governance research. Projects must be relevant to Norwegian conditions and/or conditions in low- and lower-middle-income countries (LLMICs). Collaboration with international researchers and other national research organisations is required.

Research grant funding for projects (project funding to support research activities).

The call is open to applicants from all disciplines and methodological approaches. Projects must include active collaboration with at least one international researcher/research community and at least one other national research organisation, and must be significant for Norwegian conditions and/or conditions in low- and lower-middle-income countries (LLMICs). Additional requirements apply for partners from LLMICs.
