Competence-building Project for Industry

The Competence-building Project for Industry is a research grant scheme that supports projects in binding collaboration between Norwegian research organisations and the business sector to develop knowledge addressing societal and business challenges. Projects may include both basic and applied research and must include industry partners that provide cash funding. Funding may cover actual costs necessary to carry out the project, including payroll (researcher time and limited doctoral positions), other operating expenses and equipment. The scheme prohibits commissioned research and requires strategic anchoring by the Project Owner and letters of intent from collaborating partners.

Project funding covering actual research costs (payroll, other operating expenses, equipment); support for doctoral and postdoctoral positions within stated limits.

Only approved Norwegian research organisations are eligible to apply. Projects must include at least two Norwegian collaborating partners from the industrial sector who provide cash funding confirmed by letters of intent.

Application submitted by an approved Norwegian research organisation as Project Owner; must include letters of intent from industrial partners and follow the Guide for applicants for Knowledge-building Projects for the Industrial Sector.
