EMBO Scientific Exchange Grants

The EMBO Scientific Exchange Grants support short-term visits to foster international collaborations and transfer of expertise between research groups in the life sciences. Grants fund visits to enable training in specific techniques and collaboration between eligible host laboratories and applicants' home laboratories. Visits are intended to be short-term, ranging from 7 days up to 3 months (with possible extension without EMBO funding). Applications are accepted through EMBO's online portal and reviewed by the EMBO Fellowship Office.

Travel costs and a subsistence stipend; support for visits of 7 days to 3 months (visit may be extended up to 3 additional months without EMBO funding).

Applicants must be active researchers at any career stage with at least one year of graduate-level research experience or equivalent. Research exchanges must be between eligible laboratories in EMBC Member States and EMBC/EMBO global partner countries; applicants must work at an eligible institute or be funded by an eligible JST programme and meet additional EMBO application requirements.

Complete and submit the online application form in English via EMBO's online application system; submit at least 30 days before the planned start date. Referees must submit recommendations via the online system.
