FCDO Senior Research Fellowships 2026

The FCDO Senior Research Fellowships 2026 invite applicants to undertake eleven senior research fellowship placements hosted by the FCDO, at either the head office in London or East Kilbride. Fellows will be employed by their sending UK academic institution for the duration of the placement and must obtain security clearance. The thematic areas cover topics such as gender and equity, conflict, AI for development, and global health, among others.

Direct engagement with UK foreign policy and development initiatives; opportunity to shape international policy discussions; collaboration with government teams and policymakers; enhanced professional visibility and influence; access to global development networks.

Applicants must be at least Associate Professor level and employed by a UK academic institution, and must meet UK residency requirements for security clearance during the placement.
