Stefan M. Gergely-Preis

The Stefan M. Gergely-Preis is a monetary prize awarded for outstanding doctoral dissertations addressing research questions on biodiversity. It recognises both fundamental scientific contributions to understanding biodiversity and applied research with a connection to Austria. The prize is intended for early-career researchers and is awarded annually by the Austrian Academy of Sciences. The award amount is 36,000 EUR.

Highly qualified early-career researchers at a university in Austria who have completed their doctoral/PhD studies at an Austrian university no more than two years before the submission deadline. The period may be extended by up to one year for caregiving duties, illness or disability with supporting documentation. If the doctoral degree is not yet awarded at submission, all required doctoral reviews must be available and submitted.

Submit CV, publication list, 1-page motivation letter, dissertation reviews, 300–500 word abstract and PDF of the dissertation via the online submission form; upload documents as up to three PDF files (max 10 MB each) and return a signed PDF of the submitted form by reply email as instructed.
