VWA-MINT-Preise der ÖAW

The VWA-MINT-Preise der Österreichischen Akademie der Wissenschaften are awards for excellent pre‑university research papers (Vorwissenschaftliche Arbeiten) and diploma theses in mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology. The prizes target young women to encourage and support their interest in MINT subjects. Submitted works are reviewed by a jury of scientists nominated by the Austrian Academy of Sciences. Prize money of EUR 500 is awarded to winners.

Prize money of EUR 500

Female pupils of grade 8 of an AHS and grade 5 of a relevant BHS (e.g. HTL) in Austria whose Vorwissenschaftliche Arbeit or diploma thesis was written for the Matura 2026; works must have been graded "Sehr gut". Team works are accepted if a female majority; parental consent required if not of age.

Complete online application form, upload two PDF files (motivation letter and CV; and the thesis as submitted for the Matura). After submission applicants receive a PDF to sign and must return a scanned signed copy by replying to the confirmation email.
