L’ORÉAL–UNESCO Hungarian Scholarship for Women in Science

The L’ORÉAL–UNESCO Hungarian Scholarship for Women in Science is an annual national programme awarding research fellowships to early-career female researchers in Hungary. It supports PhD candidates, postdoctoral researchers and physicians engaged in research across natural/life sciences, materials science and formal sciences. The 2026 call offers three scholarships, each a gross 2,500,000 HUF award. Recipients are expected to participate in media training and official programme events.

Open to female researchers who are PhD candidates, postdoctoral researchers or physicians engaged in research. Applicants must be Hungarian citizens or, if foreign, have at least one year of participation in Hungarian research or conduct research at an institution in Hungary. Applicants must work at higher education institutions, research institutes or institutions within a research network located in the Republic of Hungary. Women under the age of 40 (or who will turn 40 in 2026) may apply; age extensions are available for researchers raising minor children or following long child-rearing leave.

Applications submitted electronically via the For Women in Science platform; required documents include PhD certificate, CV, two letters of recommendation, publications list with SJR classifications and citations, research summary (Hungarian) and project description (English), and employer certificate for foreign nationals.
