Fulbright Visiting Scholar (Forskerstipend)

The Fulbright Visiting Scholar (Forskerstipend) is a competitive fellowship for Norwegian researchers to carry out a research and/or lecturing stay at a U.S. host institution. Grants support stays of between 3 and 12 months and are personal awards. The programme requires a PhD (or equivalent academic experience) at the time of departure and applicants must secure an invitation letter from a U.S. host institution.

Personal stipend (from NOK 250,000), support for J-1 visa issuance via Fulbright/IIE, funded stay in the USA for 3–12 months.

Applicants must be Norwegian citizens (dual Norwegian–U.S. citizens are not eligible), hold a PhD (or demonstrate equivalent academic experience) before departure, have good English skills, and plan a research and/or lecturing stay at a U.S. institution. Applicants must provide an invitation letter from the U.S. host institution and be available for an interview.
