Einstein Visiting Fellow

The Einstein Visiting Fellow is a funded fellowship that enables outstanding foreign researchers to establish a research group in Berlin in cooperation with a Berlin host institution. Fellows are expected to undertake regular multi-week stays in Berlin (at least three times per year for several weeks or one stay of at least six weeks per year) and to pursue joint research projects with Berlin colleagues. The programme provides project funding for up to four years to embed Fellows into the Berlin research landscape and to build sustainable collaborations between the host and the Fellow's home institution. The host university or Charité provides spatial and infrastructural support for the funded group.

Project funding up to €750,000 over four years; financing for a research group (including possible postdoc position and consumables); limited allowance for the Fellow (max 10% of total funding); institutional infrastructure provided by host.

Applications are submitted by eligible Berlin host units (e.g. Excellence Strategy-funded clusters, Einstein Centers, Einstein Research Units, DFG Collaborative Research Centres, graduate schools) together with a positive statement from the respective university or Charité; target candidates are outstanding foreign researchers who will establish a research group in Berlin.

Application submitted using the Foundation's English application form by the Berlin host unit, accompanied by a positive statement from the university/Charité and documentation on the candidate's CV, publication list and the planned research group and visits.
