Global Essay Prize

An annual international essay competition for students across ten subject categories including Economics, History, Philosophy, Politics, Psychology, Public Policy, Science & Technology and Theology. Entries are assessed by a panel of senior academics from leading universities and winners are chosen in each category (1st, 2nd and 3rd) with a Grand Prize for the best overall essay. Submissions must follow strict formatting and filename rules and are uploaded via an online portal. Entry is free.

Judging by a panel of senior academics with 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes awarded in each category and a Grand Prize for the best overall essay; shortlisted entrants may be contacted about the Awards Ceremony Dinner and the academic conference.

Entry to the John Locke Institute Essay Competition 2026 is open to students from any country.

Register and submit an essay via the online essay portal with the required filename format and provide the email of an academic referee who will be contacted to verify originality.
