University of Michigan African Scholarship Program

The University of Michigan African Presidential Scholars (UMAPS) Program offers a fully funded five-month research residency at the University of Michigan for early-career academics from African universities. Scholars work with a faculty partner and have access to University resources, with benefits including housing, travel, a research allowance, a stipend, and office space to develop their projects and engage with the university community.

Five months of residency, housing (private room and bath), round-trip airfare, medical insurance, research allowance, stipend for living expenses, office and laboratory space, access to university resources, opportunity to present research to the Michigan community.

Open to early-career faculty members from African higher education institutions who are currently teaching in Africa and have not more than 10 years of teaching experience; applicants require endorsement from their home institution.
