The AWHF Moses Mapesa Research Grant provides financial support for African doctoral and master’s students conducting research in natural and cultural heritage. The grant is intended to advance scholarly work related to World Heritage Sites and sites on national tentative lists in Africa, with emphasis on fieldwork-related activities. The program aims to strengthen academic engagement and develop a new generation of African experts in heritage protection, conservation, and sustainable management.
Beneficios y financiación
Financial grant up to USD 5,000 for research and fieldwork, with a fieldwork period not exceeding 9 months.
Requisitos
Open to doctoral or master's students who are currently or will be registered in 2026 at an African university and conducting dissertation research in natural or cultural heritage at an African World Heritage Site or a site on a national tentative list; applicants must be fluent in English, French, or Portuguese and be a citizen of an African Union Member State party to the 1972 World Heritage Convention.
