City Bureau Civic Information Fellowship 2026

The City Bureau Civic Information Fellowship 2026 is a paid, six-month, two-phase fellowship for Chicago residents to develop skills in community engagement, civic participation and journalism. Fellows design and implement group projects to improve neighbors’ access to information, with early emphasis on the South and West sides of Chicago. The program includes weekly learning sessions and stipends across two phases totaling $7,800 over the full fellowship.

Stipends totaling $7,800; mentorship and professional development in community engagement, information access and journalism; opportunities to design and implement community information projects.

Applicants must be living in or around Chicago, authorized to work in the United States, and able to participate in in-person engagements; no remote option and significant time commitments throughout the fellowship.
