The Island Prize for a Debut Novel from Africa 2025 invites African writers to submit their debut novels for a chance to win publishing support and cash prizes. The competition is open to writers born in or holding citizenship of any African country and is intended to help authors gain publishing opportunities and feedback on their work.

Requisitos

African writers aged 18 and over, born in or holding citizenship of any African country; not represented by a literary agent or under contract with a publisher; complete novel length 35,000-100,000 words.

Solicitud

Submit required materials via email to theisland@hhousebooks.com, including the first three chapters or 10,000 words, a covering statement, a one-page synopsis, and formatting details.
