Undergraduate Research Awards

Competitive undergraduate research awards offered by the UNC Economics Department for Summer or Fall 2026. Awards may support research for course credit (Econ 395 or 495) or provide a $4,000 summer stipend; advisors receive a $1,000 stipend. Projects are developed with a faculty advisor and result in a completed research paper and regular meetings during the project period.

$4,000 student summer stipend (when chosen), $1,000 advisor stipend, possibility of course credit (Econ 395 or 495), and a completed research paper posted on the department webpage.

Undergraduate students may apply individually or as a pair and work with an advisor to develop a proposal.

Submit a Qualtrics application with a 2-page proposal and have the advisor indicate support via the advisor Qualtrics form; applicants may indicate preference for course credit or summer stipend.
