Dissertation Fellowship

Boston College’s African & African Diaspora Studies Program offers a dissertation fellowship competition for scholars in the humanities or social sciences working on Africa and/or African Diaspora topics. The fellowship provides a stipend, health insurance, a research budget, and office space, with in-residence requirements for the academic year and obligations to deliver a public lecture and teach a seminar. Applicants must be near completion of their PhD, except for the dissertation itself.

Eligible applicants must complete all requirements for the PhD, aside from the dissertation, by the start of the fellowship year.

Applications must include a 3000-word project proposal, a 25-page writing sample, a CV, and three letters of recommendation.
