STIAS Individual Fellowship 2027

The STIAS Individual Fellowship invites individuals or project teams to conduct research or pursue a self-generated project at the Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Study. Fellows are expected to be resident at STIAS for the duration of the fellowship and participate in STIAS seminars and related activities. The programme supports interdisciplinary and innovative work across disciplines with an emphasis on Africa-relevant scholarship.

Residence at STIAS for the duration of the fellowship; participation in the STIAS Fellows’ seminars; engagement with the local and wider academic community; potential access to STIAS resources and facilities.

There is no restriction on country of origin, discipline, or academic affiliation; applicants from any background may be considered, with priority given to first-time applicants within a five-year cycle.
