A bilateral NWO–JST research call to fund collaborative projects between Dutch and Japanese research institutions on unconventional information processing technologies. Projects should address topics such as quantum information processing, neuromorphic computing, bio-inspired algorithms and integrated interdisciplinary approaches. Consortia must include at least one principal investigator affiliated with a Dutch knowledge institution and one principal investigator affiliated with a Japanese knowledge institution and have project durations of 48–60 months.

Project grant funding for consortium activities within the stated budgets; support for personnel, materials, knowledge utilisation and project management; required mobility support for PhD students and postdocs (minimum 20% of appointment in Japan).
Conditions d'éligibilité
Consortia must include at least one lead applicant affiliated to a Japanese knowledge institution and one lead applicant affiliated to a Dutch knowledge institution. Consortia must include roles such as lead applicant, co-applicants, research participants (Japan-side only), collaboration partners and co-financiers. All early-stage researchers (PhD students and postdocs) are required to spend at least 20% of their appointment time in Japan for project-related work.
Candidature
A single joint project proposal is prepared by the consortium. The Dutch lead applicant submits the proposal via the NWO ISAAC web application and the Japanese lead applicant submits via JST e-Rad. An optional letter-of-intent deadline and an informational webinar/matchmaking session are provided.
