AIMS South Africa Structured Master's Scholarship

The AIMS South Africa Structured Master's Scholarship funds a one-year residential structured master's programme at the AIMS South Africa centre in Muizenberg (near Cape Town). Two streams are offered: Mathematical Sciences and an AI for Science stream applying machine learning to natural and physical science problems. The programme is cohort-based and taught through intensive short courses followed by a supervised research essay. The scholarship covers living and study costs to enable pan‑African participation.

Tuition and research fees, return flights, airport transfers, medical insurance, residential room, all meals on campus, and a modest monthly stipend (R2,200).

Applicants must be African citizens and resident in Africa at the time of applying, and hold a completed four-year degree or a three-year degree with an honours year. Academic background should be sufficiently quantitative; previous AIMS scholarship holders are ineligible to reapply. January intake is restricted to South African applicants; the September intake is open continent-wide.
