DAAD Study Scholarships for STEM Disciplines (DAAD STEM) 2027/2028

The DAAD Study Scholarships for STEM Disciplines is a competitive master's scholarship for graduates from developing countries to pursue a Master’s degree in mathematics, science, engineering or technology at German universities. The scholarship supports study at state-recognised German universities or universities of applied sciences and can cover a full Master’s programme duration (typically 10–24 months depending on the programme). Recipients receive allowances for living and study costs, insurance coverage, travel support and access to pre-study German language courses. Continuation of funding after the first year is subject to satisfactory academic performance.

Monthly stipend (€992), annual study allowance (€460), health/accident/liability insurance, international travel allowance, German language course before studies, possible housing/family or special needs subsidies.

Applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree (not older than six years at application deadline), be eligible for admission to a Master’s programme in Germany (consecutive Master), and must not already hold a Master’s degree. Applicants must not have been resident in Germany for more than 15 months at the application deadline and must provide required language certificates (German or English) and academic documents.

Applicants must apply for admission to their chosen Master’s programmes at German universities and submit a DAAD scholarship application including CV, motivation letter, Letter of Admission (or submit before funding starts), transcripts, degree certificates, language certificates, recommendation letters and ID/passport.
