Getty Pre- and Postdoctoral Fellowships 2026-2027

Getty Pre- and Postdoctoral Fellowships are funded fellowships for emerging researchers to work on projects related to the Scholars Program’s annual theme. Predoctoral fellows may be in residence at the Getty Center, while postdoctoral fellows may be in residence at the Getty Center or Getty Villa, pursuing research or completing dissertations during the fellowship period.

Predoctoral Fellows must have advanced to candidacy and intend to complete their dissertations during the fellowship. Postdoctoral Fellows should have earned their PhD within the past 5 years to be eligible; those who earned a PhD more than 5 years ago should apply for other Getty opportunities.
