Open to PhD students from Germany and abroad who have at least a Master’s degree in history, theology or another discipline with historical orientation. Fellows pursue their doctoral research at the Leibniz Institute of European History (IEG) in Mainz; the institute does not award degrees and dissertations are completed under the supervision of the holder’s home university.

Open to PhD students from Germany and abroad who have at least a Master’s degree in history, theology or another discipline with historical orientation; doctoral studies must have started no more than three years before the deadline, with possible exceptions.
