The James McCune Smith Scholarships fund Black UK domiciled students to undertake PhD research at the University of Glasgow in any discipline with supervision. The program includes external mentorship, industry placements, leadership training, and networking opportunities, along with support for conferences and related activities.

stipend and fees coverage for up to four years; training grant of £3,000 per year; six-month industry or NGO/government placement; external mentorship; leadership training; networking and conference support

Applicants must be UK domiciled and from Black ethnic backgrounds (e.g., Black African, Black Caribbean, Black Other, or mixed backgrounds including Black). The PhD research can be in any discipline.
