NBR Chinese Language Fellowship Program (CLFP) 2026-2027

The NBR Chinese Language Fellowship Program (CLFP) awards two types of fellowships to American graduate students for one academic year of full-time intensive Chinese language training in Taiwan or China. The program has two tracks: a PhD Track for currently enrolled PhD students and a Prospective PhD Track for current or recent master’s degree students planning to pursue a PhD.

Financial support for one academic year of language training (up to the specified amounts) in Taiwan or China; language study opportunities

Applicants must demonstrate intermediate Chinese language ability and be able to commit to one academic year of full-time intensive study; applicants should be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
