Call for Proposals: British Academy International Interdisciplinary Research Projects 2026

The British Academy invites proposals for the 2026 round of its International Interdisciplinary Research Projects programme. The scheme funds collaborative research addressing transnational and planetary challenges and promotes interdisciplinarity between the humanities, social sciences and STEM. Projects must engage international partners and consider governance, policy delivery and public understanding of knowledge, with emphasis on humanities contributions to global problems.

Project funding and support for time, personnel, travel, fieldwork and networking costs; 80% FEC funding.

Principal Investigator must be based at a UK university or research institute, hold a postdoctoral position or higher, be from the humanities or social sciences, and proposals must involve at least one Co-Applicant based outside the UK.

Applications must be submitted online via the British Academy’s Flexi-Grant system.
