Breakout IMU Study Scholarship

The Breakout IMU Study Scholarship supports exceptional students from developing countries to pursue doctoral studies in mathematical sciences within their region of origin. It is administered jointly by the International Mathematical Union (IMU) and Friends of IMU (FIMU) to strengthen local academic capacity and maintain international standards. The program provides funding to cover tuition, living costs, travel, and a stipend for up to four years or until completion of the doctoral degree, with annual renewals contingent on academic progress.

Annual scholarship up to 10,000 USD; tuition coverage; travel support; housing assistance; basic living stipend.

Citizens and residents of developing countries recognized by the IMU who have been admitted or pre-admitted to a PhD program in mathematical sciences at a developing-country institution.

Nomination by eligible professors, submission of documents in English via the IMU application portal, and ongoing reporting after selection.
