National Geographic Society Ocean Exploration & Discovery 2025 Request for Proposals

Submit proposals for the National Geographic Society Ocean Exploration & Discovery 2025 Call. The program provides funding and access to research infrastructure aboard the Falkor (too) vessel for early career ocean scientists to lead ship-based oceanographic and exploratory projects in 2026. Selected projects may receive grants to cover travel and project costs and join the Explorer Community as National Geographic Explorers, with opportunities for training and network-building.

Funding up to $20,000 USD; membership in the Explorer Community; access to training, capacity development and networking opportunities.

Open to early career scientists with experience in marine sciences and the ability to lead ship-based oceanographic science, deep sea research and/or other exploratory research with limited guidance. Applicants must be over 18; individuals who are already National Geographic Explorers cannot apply.
