MRC Board and Panel Associate Scheme

The MRC Board and Panel Associate Scheme offers researchers from under-represented backgrounds an opportunity to observe the funding process and receive mentorship and training from experienced board and panel members. The program aims to build confidence and skills for future roles in research funding decision-making. Associates gain exposure to grant assessment, while boards and panels benefit from diverse perspectives and mentorship.

Mentorship and training in grant assessment, exposure to national funding strategy, insight into funding decisions, and participation in scientific discussions and reviewer activities.

Researchers from under-represented backgrounds who have not yet served on a funding panel and want structured, supported introduction to funding processes.
