Fondo ALMA-ANID 2026

The Fondo ALMA-ANID 2026 is a competitive funding programme administered by ANID under the collaboration agreement supporting astronomical research related to ALMA. It funds postdoctoral positions, development and training activities in astronomy and related sciences, and outreach and dissemination initiatives. Projects may include hiring new astronomers and technicians, strengthening postgraduate programmes, organising summer schools and workshops, and theoretical or technological initiatives supporting Chilean astronomy. Grants are awarded with defined maximum durations and annual/total budgets per proposal type.

Project grants with specified maximum annual and total budgets per proposal type and funding for up to 24 months; support for postdoctoral positions, training activities (schools, workshops), and outreach projects.

National legal entities, public or private, whose mission includes research or teaching in astronomy, astrophysics and/or astronomical instrumentation (e.g., universities, research centres, scientific societies) may apply. Principal investigators are researchers or academics with or without doctoral degrees depending on the proposal type and must have an employment vínculo with the sponsoring national institution; for outreach projects a doctoral degree is not required but an employment vínculo with the sponsoring institution is required. Institutional support from a national sponsoring institution is mandatory.

Submit required application form and supporting documents (budget, institutional support letters, checklists) through ANID procedures; proposals must be sponsored by a national institution.
