Internships run for a fixed period during which interns contribute to selected projects and receive stipend payments. The programme is hosted by the Software Freedom Conservancy with support from partner organisations and communities. Projects cover software development, documentation, design, and related technical work.

$3,000 and $4,000 stipend payments according to the intern payment schedule; mentorship and practical project experience with participating open source communities.

Submit an initial application by the initial deadline, contribute to projects during the contribution phase, and submit a final application by the final deadline; selection announced before internship start. Apply via the Outreachy application pages.
