British Academy–CIFAR Global Scholars Program

The British Academy–CIFAR Global Scholars Program is a two-year fellowship for early-career and mid-career researchers to develop and lead high-risk, high-reward interdisciplinary research within a CIFAR research program. Participants receive mentorship, targeted leadership training, membership of the CIFAR Global Scholars community, and opportunities to apply for CIFAR seed funds. The program targets researchers whose work complements the themes of recruiting CIFAR research programs within the Exploring Emerging Technologies impact cluster.

$100,000 CAD unrestricted research support, access to CIFAR seed funds, mentorship, membership in the CIFAR Global Scholars network, and targeted research leadership training.

Applicants must hold a PhD (or equivalent) and a full-time position at an institution of higher education or research with responsibility for leading independent research and supervising or teaching graduate-level trainees; the position must be secure for the full term (1 April 2027 to 31 March 2029). Applicants must engage in research that complements the themes and goals of a recruiting CIFAR research program and meet additional criteria on the CIFAR Global Scholars webpage.
