AI for Social Impact Challenge 2026

The AI for Social Impact Challenge 2026 is a global competition inviting participants to develop a project or proposal that uses artificial intelligence to address a real-world problem related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It starts with an online course consisting of six self-paced modules; no prior AI or programming experience is required. After completing the course, participants submit a project detailing the problem, the AI-powered solution, feasibility, and potential social impact.

Certificate of completion issued by UNITAR; top 10 participants receive a fully funded trip to Geneva for the awards ceremony; winner’s certificate and trophy; LinkedIn recognition badge; inclusion of the project in the AI for Social Impact Yearbook; opportunity to develop a practical project in areas such as education, healthcare, climate, social justice, and sustainability.

Open to participants from all countries worldwide; available to applicants from a wide range of academic disciplines; no prior experience in AI or programming required.
