Innovations in Cost-Disruptive Tools for Diagnosis & Screening (RFP)

This Request for Proposals seeks projects that develop cost-disruptive diagnostic and screening tools that materially reset the cost curve for LMIC settings, with priority use cases including TB, HIV and related diagnostics, and maternal, neonatal and child health. The initiative supports milestone-based awards spanning early high-risk concepts to later-stage adaptation and scale, prioritizing technologies with clear pathways to translation, local manufacturing, and high-throughput, low-cost deployment. Proposals may include novel sensing modalities, platform or software-defined diagnostics, and AI-enabled approaches aimed at near-zero incremental per-test costs.

Milestone-based awards to advance development, adaptation and scale; emphasis on enabling local/regional manufacturing and translation to LMIC settings.

This RFP is specific to South Africa–based researchers; collaborations are strongly encouraged where appropriate within the scope of the proposal.
