Open to freelance journalists who produce investigative reporting. The fellowship provides cash awards to support long-form or short-term projects, with a focus on impact and breadth. Proposals may target books, documentaries, broadcasts, or articles for various outlets, primarily in the United States.

Open to journalists who make their living primarily as freelancers and who will publish the work primarily in the U.S. and to audiences at least partially in the American public.
