Marthe Engelborghs-Bertels Prize for Sinology

The Marthe Engelborghs-Bertels Prize for Sinology is awarded to the author of a memoir of great scientific value on a subject related to the Chinese world (continental China, Taiwan or the Chinese diaspora). The work may be unpublished or published for less than five years and must be written in English, French, Dutch or German. The Prize confers a monetary award and the title of Laureate and may include publication of an unpublished winning memoir. The Prize is administered by the Royal Academy for Overseas Sciences.

Monetary award of EUR 12,500 (temporary amount) and the title of Laureate; possible publication of the winning memoir if unpublished.

Scientists from a European country who know Chinese or a language of the minorities living in China; applicants should either have completed higher education studies in Belgium or in a member state of the European Union, or be attached to a higher education or research establishment located in a member state of the European Union.

Submit six paper copies and one electronic version of the memoir, together with a summary (max 1,200 words), a curriculum vitae and a covering letter, sent to the Academy's secretariat before the stated deadline.
