AOS Student Research Grants

The AOS Student Research Grants provide competitive funding to support research in avian biology for students and postdoctoral researchers. Multiple named grants are administered by the AOS Research Grants Committee and support projects at undergraduate, master's, doctoral, and postdoctoral levels. Awards are granted based on ranked proposals and may be assigned to the most appropriate named fund. Applicants are expected to adhere to the AOS Code of Conduct & Ethics.

Monetary award (up to $4,000) to support research; assignment to an appropriate named grant fund.

Applicants must be AOS members and be full-time or recently graduated undergraduate, master's, or doctoral students, or postdoctoral researchers without access to major granting agencies. The applicant must be the individual conducting the research project and responsible for data analysis; applicants are limited to one grant per year and two grants per lifetime.

Submit an application through the AOS Member Portal as a single PDF (max 8 pages) including proposal statement, budget, and CV; applicants must click Submit and will receive a confirmation email. Applicants must have active AOS membership for 2026.
