Kapor Foundation Research Fellowship 2026

The Kapor Foundation Research Fellowship provides funding for journalists and tech policy researchers to pursue long-form investigative work and policy-relevant research in AI ethics and governance. Grants support fellows conducting research or investigative reporting in priority areas such as CS/AI education, innovation, and governance. Selected fellows receive funding to support their research or reporting projects.

Funding up to $35,000 per grant for fellows; supports investigative reporting or policy research.

Eligible applicants include journalists based in the United States with at least 5 years of in-depth investigative reporting experience and researchers at research or policy institutes conducting CS/AI education or tech policy research.

Submit a personal bio, CV or resume, a summary of the research project, and links to published work; investigative reporting applicants must provide a letter of commitment from a media outlet to publish their reporting.
