Global Ireland Young Leaders Programme

A competition for Transition Year students in Ireland and Year 11/Year 12 students in Northern Ireland that awards successful applicants a three-day programme hosted by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Dublin. Participants observe and engage with the work of Ireland’s foreign affairs service through interactive workshops, visits from government ministers, discussions with international NGOs, sessions on peace and reconciliation, and a visit to an embassy. The 2026 programme included a specific focus on Ireland and the European Union and the upcoming EU Presidency. Applications for the next iteration will open in late 2026.

A three-day programme in Dublin offering first-hand experience of diplomacy, interactive workshops, discussions with international NGOs, sessions on peace and reconciliation, visits from ministers and an embassy visit; possible travel and accommodation support on request.

Open to Transition Year students in Ireland and Year 11/Year 12 students in Northern Ireland.
