IMF 2026 Economist Program for recent PhD graduates

The IMF Economist Program (EP) is a three-year fellowship for economists who have recently completed, or are close to completing, a PhD. The program includes two 18-month assignments, exposure to regional and country-specific issues, and access to professional, technical, and language training, with mentorship from seasoned IMF economists to support career development.

Applicants must have recently completed or be expected to complete a PhD within a year of joining the IMF, in fields related to macroeconomics and related areas, be a national of an IMF member country, be under 34 at program entry, and have strong English skills.
