The Advanced Computational Biology Camp is a week-long residential and virtual research camp that teaches the R programming language and computational biology concepts using real biomedical data. It is designed for academically motivated secondary-school students and exceptional 8th graders and includes instruction, teaching assistant support, hands-on data analysis, and a group research project with a final presentation. The camp runs concurrently in-person at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and online. Programming builds from basics through plotting, statistics, packages, and introductory machine learning applied to cancer datasets.

Instruction in R and computational biology, multiple teaching assistants, hands-on analysis of cancer datasets, machine learning introduction, group research project with final presentation, and potential qualification pathways for miRcore research/volunteer programs (with conditions).

Academically motivated current (2025–26) high school students and exceptional 8th grade students interested in computers, math, science, and medicine; students with or without coding experience may apply.
