John S. Knight Journalism Fellowship 2026-27 at Stanford University

The John S. Knight Journalism Fellowships at Stanford University offer journalists a nine-month, full-time fellowship to pause day-to-day work and explore the future of journalism. The program brings together up to 20 journalists from around the world to engage in reflection, collaboration, and experimentation in a dynamic academic environment. Fellows receive a stipend, health coverage, and access to Stanford resources, with activities including coaching, cohort meetings, and events designed to foster leadership and innovation, culminating in ongoing engagement with a global JSK alumni network.

A $130,000 stipend for the nine-month fellowship, Stanford tuition and health insurance for fellows, health coverage for dependents, coaching and workshops, access to Stanford resources, and membership in the global JSK alumni network.

Applicants must have at least five years of professional work experience in journalism. No college degree or traditional newsroom experience is required, and student or internship experience is valuable but does not count toward the five-year minimum. Open to journalists in news organizations, independent journalists, journalism entrepreneurs, strategists, and innovators.
