Embark India Development Fellowship

An 18-month fellowship that places young professionals within public institutions, departments, and agencies to work on development policy and governance. The programme combines academic training, immersive six-month institutional placements, mentorship, and research leading to policy briefs and publications. Fellows receive residential and virtual bootcamps, expert guidance, and networking opportunities with policymakers and practitioners. The fellowship cohort works on projects intended to inform governance and public policy in India.

Monthly stipend up to ₹65,000, residential and virtual bootcamps, mentorship from senior experts, institutional placement within public bodies, opportunities to author white papers and policy briefs, certification and networking with policymakers.

Age up to 35 years as of 2026-01-01 and a postgraduate degree in any discipline from a recognised institution; candidates with backgrounds in public policy, governance, social sciences, economics, law, or management are encouraged. The programme has three professional streams with specific experience requirements: fresh postgraduates (no prior work experience required but internships/research mandatory), social sector professionals (minimum three years' experience), and corporate professionals (minimum five years' experience).

Selection involves a national-level virtual bootcamp (participants shortlisted to ~100), facilitator-led assessments to shortlist 40, panel interviews, and final selection of 20 fellows; application via the organiser's application form.
