Researcher Project for Experienced Scientists (FRIPRO)

The Researcher Project for Experienced Scientists (FRIPRO) is a competitive grant scheme that funds curiosity-driven basic and applied research across all research areas. The call is aimed at experienced scientists (project managers) who have demonstrated the ability to conduct research of high scientific quality. Projects may be bold and high-risk and are selected primarily on scientific excellence and potential to advance the state of the art. The scheme is administered by the Research Council of Norway.

Project funding for curiosity-driven basic and applied research projects

Only approved Norwegian research organisations may apply; the research organisation listed as Project Owner must have approved the submission. The call is aimed at experienced scientists (project managers) with 6+ years after PhD.

Submit an application via the Research Council of Norway application portal; applications are processed as received and projects must start 8–18 months after submission.
