Youth Innovation Essay Prize 2024

The Youth Innovation Essay Prize is an annual essay competition for young writers, thinkers and creatives to explore and communicate solutions to issues that matter to them. This year’s theme is Innovations for Gender Equality, with written, video, or audio essay formats eligible for submission. Prizes include cash awards for the top entries and opportunities for mentorship and development.

Cash prizes for top entries (R10,000 for the winner; R5,000 for second and third place); mentorship and development opportunities

Open to individuals aged 18-30 who live in South Africa; prior finalist status disqualifies repeat finalists.
