AMASA 2026 Prizes for Emerging Science and Societal Impact

The AMASA 2026 Prizes for Emerging Science and Societal Impact recognise scientific excellence, originality, and relevance to society among African scientists. There are two prize categories: an Emerging Science Prize for early-career scientists (PhD obtained within seven years before the nomination deadline) and a Societal Impact Prize for established scientists (PhD obtained more than seven years before the nomination deadline). Recipients will be announced and honoured during AMASA 2026 in Nairobi, Kenya.

NASAC Member Academies and partner institutions may nominate outstanding African scientists; self-nomination is not permitted. The Emerging Science Prize is for scientists who obtained their PhD within the seven years preceding the nomination deadline; the Societal Impact Prize is for scientists who obtained their PhD more than seven years before the nomination deadline.

Nominations must be submitted by NASAC Member Academies or partner institutions via the provided nomination forms (separate forms for each prize category). Self-nomination is not permitted.
