The sub-Saharan Africa Health Research and Innovation Fellowship Program (SAHRI Fellowship) 2026

The SAHRI Fellowship is a three-year training trajectory designed to empower 12 mid-career biomedical and clinical researchers from sub-Saharan Africa to become leaders in biomedical innovation and clinical research, addressing infectious disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment and control. The fellowship is fully funded and administered by a consortium led by the Institute of Tropical Medicine Antwerp in collaboration with BioNTech, with support from Global Health EDCTP3.

Mid-career clinical or biomedical scientists from sub-Saharan Africa who hold a Master’s-equivalent degree and demonstrate potential to lead in infectious disease research and biomedical innovation.
