AI4D Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) Scholarship Programme 2025

The AI4D Scholarship Programme supports PhD students and Early Career Academics in Africa to conduct AI/ML research addressing SDGs. The initiative is funded by a grant to the African Centre for Technology Studies (ACTS) with aim to promote responsible AI and equitable distribution across Francophone, Anglophone and Lusophone sub-Saharan Africa. Scholarships include research funding and tuition support for up to two years, with additional capacity-strengthening activities.

Financial support for tuition and research, plus capacity-strengthening activities including mentoring and regional collaboration opportunities.

Women who are PhD students (Category 1) or Early Career Academics (Category 2) in AI/ML, with eligible regional/national status as defined by sub-Saharan Africa.
